Everything you need to know about hair loss

Many think hair loss is a problem faced almost exclusively by men, but women have it just as bad. While women don’t lose hair in the same manner, they are susceptible to hair loss brought on by hormonal changes, childbirth, menopause, vitamin deficiencies, and aging. Some, unfortunately, are even victims of alopecia.

According to this article, women should seek medical help if hair partings appear to be widening, bald patches on the scalp become noticeable, or if hair fall is worsening by the day.

Apart from visiting a dermatologist to seek out the root cause behind thinning hair, women can also look to invest in beautiful, natural-looking wigs, hair toppers, and hair extensions to immediately take care of the growing concern.

To that end, wigs.co.za has an impressive range of wigs to choose from. Part of the worldwide Jon Renau brand, their hairpieces deliver keeping the following functions in mind:

An Effective Solution for Hair Loss

Thinning hair can make women feel self-conscious to the point of being uncomfortable around others.
Seeing as this might be a long-standing concern, quality wigs and hairpieces come with the guarantee to bring relief and restore lost confidence.

While you might think that purchasing a wig is expensive, what is even more so is other treatments to get your hair to grow back again.

Giving the Wearer Lustrous Hair

While there may be many wigs available in the market, a lot of them tend to look fake because of the stiffness of the strands. Therefore affording little confidence to the wearer, if any.

With wigs, however, none of that is a problem because all our hairpieces feature a natural bounce while adding volume.

Everything you need to know about Hair Loss?

Over the next few pages, we are going to go through absolutely everything you will ever need to know about hair loss. Hair loss can start with a few extra hairs in the sink or in your comb. Later this can progress to a bald scalp. Baldness typically refers to excessive hair loss from your scalp and can be the result of hereditary conditions, medications, or even an underlying medical condition or treatments. Hair loss is not limited to a select few. It can be experienced by men, women, and children. Around 2% of men women and children in South Africa experience some form of hair loss. Some prefer to let the hair run its course untreated. Others cover their balding heads with wigs, hair extensions, hairpieces, hats, and even scarves. Others decide to use medications and even surgical procedures that are available to treat hair loss. Did you know? We have revolutionised a Non-Surgical Hair Replacement process. Take a look at our Women Hair Replacement Systems and Men Hair Replacement services to get an understanding of the replacement process.

How many hairs is too much?

Most people only shed about 100 hairs per day. With around 100,000 hands on your scalp, this amount of hair loss should not be noticeable at all. Therefore, the gradual thinning of your hair is a normal part of ageing. However, hair loss may lead to baldness. This happens when the rate of shedding your hair exceeds the rate of regrowth. Your stage of hair loss will be determined by our specialist during the initial consultation process.

Stages of hair loss & hair loss treatments

During the beginning stages of hair loss, you may not require a full hair system like a wig. An additional hairpiece such as a Hair Topper can successfully cover the noticeable thinning areas on your head. Hair loss is not always the reason or woman need or want a hairpiece. Fashion and different style trends have also increased the desire to look unique and different. These are just some reasons why you might want to invest and a headpiece. The below chart shows the different stages of hair loss and the products that we recommend for each case.
